THE PORSCHE GRAND ALPINE ARC

Austria, Italy, Slovenia & Germany

June 28–July 7, 2027

Nine nights.

Four countries.

Legendary roads.

Extraordinary hotels.

Every couple in a Porsche 911 - you select the trim.

The Alps. The Porsche. The Film.

A Special First for VanArnam Adventures

For the first time ever, a professional filmmaking team will join a VanArnam Adventures journey, capturing our Grand Alpine Arc in a cinematic travel film.

Led by award-winning creative director Adam Klugman, our team will travel with us throughout the adventure, using multiple drones, professional cameras, and vehicle-mounted filming equipment to capture the spectacular roads, incredible cars, beautiful destinations, and unforgettable moments along the way.

Imagine driving your Porsche 911 through the Alps as part of a convoy of extraordinary cars, with a professional filmmaking team capturing the adventure from the air, the roadside, and inside the cars.

And when the journey is over, every guest will receive a copy of the finished cinematic travel film—a lasting reminder of an extraordinary experience.

No scripts. No acting. Just the thrill of the drive, the beauty of the Alps, and the experience of being part of something truly special.

Meet Adam Klugman

Award-Winning Creative Director

We're thrilled to welcome Adam Klugman as the Creative Director of our Grand Alpine Arc cinematic travel film.

Adam brings decades of experience in filmmaking, advertising, and visual storytelling. His impressive career includes creative work for iconic brands such as Nike, Disney, Hewlett-Packard, MGM, Viacom, and CNN, along with collaborations with some of America's most respected advertising agencies.

Adam and VanArnam Adventures founder Kent VanArnam have known each other for more than a decade and have collaborated on several creative projects. Their friendship, shared vision, and passion for storytelling make this an especially exciting partnership.

Adam will travel from the United States to join us in Europe, directing the creative vision of the film and working alongside Kent and a dedicated professional cinematographer throughout the journey.

Together, they'll capture the spirit of this extraordinary Porsche adventure and transform it into a cinematic travel film our guests can enjoy long after the final drive.

Capturing the Adventure from Every Angle

Joining Adam and Kent will be a dedicated professional cinematographer, bringing additional creative expertise and a complete professional camera package to the journey.

Throughout the week, our filmmaking team will capture the experience using multiple aerial drones, high-end cameras, professional audio equipment, and vehicle-mounted cameras that put viewers right in the middle of the action.

Imagine sweeping aerial footage of our Porsche convoy winding through spectacular alpine passes, dramatic roadside shots of 911s carving through mountain curves, and in-car perspectives that capture the pure excitement of the drive.

And it won't just be about the cars. We'll capture the beautiful hotels, remarkable food and wine, breathtaking destinations, and spontaneous moments that make traveling together so memorable.

Our filmmakers will travel alongside us throughout the journey, staying in the same hotels and filming every day. The result will be a professionally produced cinematic travel film that tells the story of our Grand Alpine Arc adventure.

Every guest will receive a copy of the finished film to enjoy and share long after we return home.

Some trips are built around destinations.

This one is built around the drive.

The Porsche Grand Alpine Arc is a nine-night journey through Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Germany, created for people who believe the road, the car and the person beside them are as important as the destination itself.

Beginning and ending at Motorworld Munich, we will follow a carefully designed arc through the Alps—crossing legendary mountain passes, following quiet backroads, visiting clear alpine lakes and staying in castles, intimate luxury hotels and a historic Italian wine estate.

Each driving day is designed around approximately 2½ to 3½ hours behind the wheel. It is enough time to genuinely experience the Porsche without turning the trip into an endurance test.

We will drive in the mornings whenever possible, enjoy memorable lunches along the way and arrive with enough time to experience each hotel and destination.

Imagine your favorite music playing, the mountains filling the windshield, the road unfolding ahead of you and sharing an unforgettable adventure with the person beside you.

BUILT AROUND THE DRIVE
This journey isn't simply about getting from one remarkable hotel to the next. We've designed each driving day around the roads themselves—from the Grossglockner and Vršič Pass to lesser-known Alpine roads chosen for their scenery, driving character and sheer fun behind the wheel.

Want to see what we'll actually drive?

One of the highlights of our journey is Austria's legendary Grossglockner High Alpine Road—30 miles of spectacular mountain driving, 36 magnificent bends, and a road that seems made for the Porsche 911.

We've created a special feature exploring what makes this one of the world's greatest driving roads, including spectacular imagery, Porsche driving footage, and why we're planning to experience it in the early morning.

MONDAY, JUNE 28

Welcome to Motorworld Munich

Our journey begins at Motorworld Munich, where automotive history, modern design and an extraordinary collection of cars create the perfect setting for our first night.

After checking into the AMERON München Motorworld, we will gather for the moment everyone has been anticipating: the Porsche reveal.

The cars will be waiting together, each paired with the couple who will drive it through the Alps. You will receive a personal introduction to your Porsche, become familiar with its controls and have time for photographs before we gather for our private driving briefing. This is a true self-drive journey, and every driver should arrive confident and comfortable taking full responsibility for their Porsche while driving independently in Europe.

With luggage space limited in a Porsche 911, thoughtful packing is essential. We recommend soft-sided luggage and packing light for the journey.

That evening, we will celebrate with a welcome reception and opening dinner at Motorworld.

Tomorrow, the driving begins.

Driving: None

Overnight: AMERON München Motorworld

TUESDAY, JUNE 29

Into the Alps

After breakfast, we leave Munich behind and point the Porsches toward the mountains.

Our first drive carries us through the Bavarian foothills, across the Austrian border and into the Tyrolean countryside. The roads become quieter, the villages smaller and the mountains increasingly dramatic.

We will stop for a wonderful lunch along the way before continuing over Pass Thurn toward Mittersill.

High above the valley, our destination appears: Schloss Mittersill.

This restored medieval castle is everything we want in a VanArnam Adventures hotel—historic, intimate, elegant and completely connected to its surroundings. Every room has its own character, and the terraces look across the valley toward the peaks of the Hohe Tauern.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy the heated outdoor pool, explore the castle or simply settle onto the terrace with a drink and admire the view.

Dinner will be served at the castle.

Driving: Approximately 3–3½ hours

Overnight: Hotel Schloss Mittersill

FRIDAY, JUNE 30

The Grossglockner

Today we drive one of the great roads of Europe.

We will begin early, with a private breakfast at Schloss Mittersill before setting out toward the northern entrance of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.

Our early departure is intentional. It gives us the best opportunity to experience the road before the heavier sightseeing traffic arrives.

The Grossglockner rises through forests and high meadows toward a world of exposed rock, waterfalls, glaciers and towering peaks. The road sweeps across the mountains through a succession of beautifully engineered curves, each revealing another immense Alpine view.

We will pause for photographs near Fuscher Törl and enjoy a short high-alpine walk before continuing through the Hochtor tunnel and descending toward Heiligenblut.

Lunch will be served in the mountains, with the Porsches parked outside and the great peaks rising around us.

Our day concludes in East Tyrol at the five-star Grandhotel Lienz. Set beside the glacier-fed Isel River and only a short walk from the historic center, the hotel combines traditional European elegance with one of the best parking arrangements of the journey: a secure underground garage for our Porsches.

After the cars are parked, we will gather for dinner in Lienz or on the hotel’s riverside terrace.

Driving: Approximately 3–3½ hours

Overnight: Grandhotel Lienz

Want to see what makes this road so extraordinary? Explore our complete Grossglockner driving guide, featuring spectacular Alpine imagery, Porsche driving footage, and the remarkable story behind one of Europe's greatest mountain roads.

THURSDAY, JULY 1

Secret Roads of the Eastern Alps

Today’s drive is not built around a single famous road. Instead, it links a collection of less-traveled mountain routes across Austria, Italy and Slovenia.

Leaving Lienz, we cross the Gailberg Saddle and continue toward Kötschach-Mauthen. From there, the road climbs through forests and alpine pastures toward Nassfeld Pass.

The driving becomes more intimate and technical as we cross into Italy and descend toward Tarvisio.

Our destination for lunch is Laghi di Fusine, a pair of clear alpine lakes beneath the immense limestone walls of the Mangart mountain range. We will enjoy lunch near the water, followed by an optional two-to-three-mile walk around the lakes.

In the afternoon, we cross into Slovenia and arrive in the beautiful alpine village of Kranjska Gora. We will stay at Hotel Kotnik, a charming, family-owned boutique hotel located directly in the heart of town.

The hotel’s location is one of its greatest advantages. After parking the Porsches, we can leave the keys behind and enjoy Kranjska Gora entirely on foot. The village’s cafés, shops and historic center are all just steps from the hotel, giving everyone time to explore, relax or enjoy a drink before dinner without needing additional transportation.

That evening, we will take a short walk through town to Pino Alpino Restaurant & Wine Bar, one of the finest restaurants in Kranjska Gora. Located on the old town square, Pino Alpino combines relaxed alpine hospitality with creative cuisine centered around seasonal and regional ingredients.

Wine is an important part of the experience. Pino Alpino’s sommelier oversees an impressive collection of approximately 80 labels, with a particular emphasis on outstanding Slovenian wines. Dinner will be an opportunity to discover the country through both its food and wine, guided by thoughtful pairings and the stories behind the bottles.

After dinner, it is an easy walk back to Hotel Kotnik for an early night before tomorrow’s Vršič Pass crossing.

Driving: Approximately 3–3½ hours

Overnight: Hotel Kotnik, Kranjska Gora

FRIDAY, JULY 2

Vršič Pass and the Soča Valley

We rise early this morning for one of the most anticipated drives of the trip.

Shortly after leaving the hotel, we pass through Kranjska Gora and begin climbing Vršič Pass. The northern ascent includes a series of historic cobbled hairpins constructed during the First World War.

Among the trees stands the beautiful Russian Chapel, built in memory of the Russian prisoners of war who lost their lives while constructing the mountain road.

From the chapel, we continue upward through the Julian Alps. The road climbs through 50 numbered turns before reaching the summit at 1,611 meters.

After a carefully planned photography stop, we descend into the Trenta Valley and follow the impossibly clear, turquoise waters of the Soča River.

We will stop for a short riverside walk before continuing toward Kobarid and the vineyard-covered hills of Brda.

Our destination is just across the Italian border: Castello di Spessa.

This historic wine estate lies among the vineyards of Collio, where Italian and Slovenian cultures have blended for centuries. The property encompasses a medieval castle, underground wine cellars, restaurants, gardens, a spa and an 18-hole golf course.

After the Porsches are parked for the evening, we will raise a glass to an extraordinary day before enjoying dinner at the estate.

Driving: Approximately 2½–3 hours

Overnight: Castello di Spessa

SATURDAY, JULY 3

Choose Your Experience

Today, the Porsches remain parked. After several remarkable days of driving, everyone can slow down and choose between a day of golf or a relaxing spa experience. Whichever option you select is fully included in the trip.

Golf Among the Vineyards

Play 18 holes at the Golf & Country Club Castello di Spessa. This beautiful par-71 course winds through the vineyards and rolling hills surrounding the castle.

Your green fee, rental clubs, range balls and shared golf cart are all included. We will arrange the tee times and have everything waiting for you when you arrive at the course.

Relax at the Vinum Spa

Those who prefer a more relaxing day can enjoy Castello di Spessa’s wine-inspired Vinum Spa. Your experience includes spa access and a massage, along with time to enjoy the pool and relaxation areas.

Wine Tasting and Dinner in Brda

Later that afternoon, our entire group will come together and travel by private transportation into Slovenia’s beautiful Goriška Brda wine country.

Our destination is Hotel & Restaurant Gredič, an elegant château surrounded by vineyards. Here, we will enjoy a guided tasting of regional wines followed by a memorable group dinner celebrating the food, wine and culture of this extraordinary border region.

VanArnam Adventures will provide round-trip group transportation between Castello di Spessa and Gredič, allowing everyone to relax and fully enjoy the wine tasting and dinner.

Driving: None
Overnight: Castello di Spessa

SUNDAY, JULY 4

From the Vineyards to Weissensee

After breakfast, we return to the Porsches and begin our journey north.

The morning starts among the vineyards before leading us back toward the upper Soča Valley. From Bovec, the road rises toward Predil Pass, crossing beneath rugged Julian Alps peaks before descending into Italy.

We continue through Tarvisio and the quiet Gail Valley, stopping along the way for an exceptional alpine lunch.

Our final miles lead over Kreuzberg Pass and toward one of Austria’s most beautiful natural retreats: Lake Weissensee.

Our hotel, Genießerhotel Die Forelle, sits directly on the water. This intimate, family-run gourmet hotel feels deeply connected to its surroundings, with lake-view rooms, gardens, a private shoreline and cuisine shaped by the mountains and the lake.

After arriving, the Porsches will be parked together for the next two nights.

The remainder of the afternoon is yours to swim, walk beside the lake or settle into a quiet corner of the garden.

Dinner will be served at Die Forelle.

Driving: Approximately 3–3½ hours

Overnight: Genießerhotel Die Forelle

FRIDAY, JULY 5

An Alpine Lake, a Mountain and a Beautiful Walk

Today is about experiencing the Alps beyond the windshield.

After breakfast, we board a private or reserved electric-hybrid boat for a quiet journey across Lake Weissensee. The clear water, forested shoreline and surrounding mountains create one of the most peaceful settings of the trip.

Near Techendorf, we step ashore and board the Weissensee mountain chairlift.

In approximately 12 minutes, the lift carries us from the lakeshore to an elevation of more than 4,300 feet. From the top, we begin a private guided walk through alpine meadows toward Naggler Alm.

The hike will be approximately two to three miles, with a comfortable pace and plenty of opportunities to stop for photographs and enjoy the views. A shorter option will be available for anyone who prefers a gentler morning.

Our destination is a traditional alpine hut, where lunch waits on the terrace.

Local cheeses, charcuterie, Kärntner Kasnudeln, fresh salads, trout and warm blueberry pancakes are among the regional specialties we may enjoy. With no driving scheduled today, guests can relax over Austrian wine or beer.

After lunch, we descend by chairlift and return across the lake by boat.

The afternoon is unstructured and entirely yours. The following activities are optional, and any rental, equipment, beverage, or service charges are paid individually::

  • Swim from the hotel’s shoreline

  • Explore the lake by paddleboard or rowboat

  • Rent an electric boat

  • Take an easy e-bike ride

  • Schedule a massage

  • Relax in the garden with a book and a glass of wine

We will gather that evening for another beautiful dinner at Die Forelle.

Driving: None

Overnight: Genießerhotel Die Forelle

TUESDAY, JULY 6

Across East Tyrol to Kitzbühel

Our final full driving day takes us through East Tyrol and back toward the heart of the Austrian Alps.

Leaving Weissensee, we follow quiet valley roads toward Lienz before turning north through the Felbertauern mountains.

The scenery changes throughout the day—from green valleys and small villages to waterfalls, rock walls and high mountain peaks.

After an excellent lunch, we continue toward Mittersill and cross Pass Thurn into Kitzbühel.

Kitzbühel is one of Austria’s most elegant alpine towns, known for its historic center, discreet luxury, designer boutiques and sophisticated summer atmosphere.

Our final hotel is Tennerhof, a five-star Relais & Châteaux property dating from 1679.

With only 39 rooms, Tennerhof feels personal and deeply rooted in Tyrolean history. Family antiques, beautiful gardens, mountain views and exceptional cuisine create an appropriately special conclusion to our journey.

The afternoon is yours to explore Kitzbühel’s shops and cafés.

That evening, we will gather at Tennerhof for cocktails and our farewell dinner—an opportunity to celebrate the roads, the cars and the friendships that have defined our journey.

Driving: Approximately 3–3½ hours

Overnight: Relais & Châteaux Hotel Tennerhof

WEDNESDAY, JULY 7

One Last Drive

After breakfast, we return to the Porsches for our final drive together.

Leaving Kitzbühel, we travel through the Tyrolean and Bavarian foothills, using the best available combination of scenic roads around Walchsee, Sudelfeld and Tatzelwurm.

As the Alps slowly recede behind us, we return to Motorworld Munich.

There will be time for one final photograph with the cars before returning the Porsches and gathering for a farewell lunch.

The trip may end at Motorworld, but the memories will remain tied to certain moments:

The sound of a 911 echoing through a mountain pass.

The towering peaks above the Grossglockner.

The cobbled turns of Vršič.

A long lunch in the vineyards.

A quiet boat crossing on Weissensee.

And the person beside you as another beautiful road disappeared into the distance.

Driving: Approximately 2½–3 hours

THE DRIVER’S ROADBOOK

The Roads Behind the Journey

The Porsche Grand Alpine Arc has been designed around more than simply getting from one extraordinary hotel to the next.

Each driving day has been planned around the roads themselves—legendary mountain passes, lesser-known Alpine routes, spectacular scenery and the kind of roads that make driving a Porsche unforgettable.

We travel together, but we don't drive nose-to-tail. Each Porsche follows the same planned route at a pace comfortable for its driver, with designated places to regroup along the way.

Whenever possible, we choose the best road rather than simply the fastest road.

Routes and departure times may be adjusted for weather, road conditions, construction, closures and traffic.
